NEWSLETTER No. 1

Dear FHS Member

This is by way of Newsletter No. 1. The Steering Group met on l5th October, and in that meeting we discussed the question of a membership fee.

The general agreement was that we should ask members for a £5 annual subscription payable to "Friends of Hull Screen".

The Steering Group will meet approximately once a month; any concerns that you would like raised, please send them to me by email.

We are continuing to look at the way forward for the Screen. One piece of news is that North Hull MP Diana Johnson is keen to support the Screen/FHS and we will be meeting her next week to talk about issues. She is very positive about the need for an arts cinema in the city.

NEWSLETTER No. 1

"Miracle on 34th Street", 13 Dec.

Christmas event: On Thursday 13th December we shall have a special, members-only screening of the Richard Attenborough film "Miracle on 34th Street". This was a remake of an earlier version of this story, and has a Christmas theme with a twist to the tale.

Tickets will be at a concessionary price of £3.50 and there will be a (free) wine, soft drinks and mince pie reception/social before the screening, from 6.00 p.m. onwards in the Gallery/exhibition space at the Lincoln Street venue. It is a good opportunity to socialise and exchange ideas and information, and we do hope that many of you can make it. If you are attending this event, you could bring your subscription fee and give it to me then if you prefer.

Best wishes, Susan and Val, for FHS.
