Support (Humber Bridge) Climate Change March ! Liberal Democrat Cllr Polly Worsdale, a founder member of HaRCC (Hornsea and Region Climate Concern) group is asking East Riding residents to support the Climate Change March (across the Humber Bridge) on 29th October. The march leaves (Humber Bridge Car Park) at 12, and people are asked to gather about 11.00am. Two of the march organisers, Guy Moore and Martin Deane, met
members of HaRCC in Hornsea last week to discuss ways of helping people to
combat climate change and global warming. HaRCC was started up by St Nicholas
Church working with other churches earlier this year. (Terry Railton main
founder of HaRCC- 01964-535765) Cllr Worsdale says, “At HaRCC we were so pleased to meet and talk with Guy and Martin, who are devoting an enormous amount of time to spreading the word about climate change and what people can do about it. “It is no good burying our heads in the sand about it, or blaming other countries, or saying ‘it’s too late anyway’. There are lots of ways we can all help to reduce climate change, and every little bit helps. But there is no need to feel depressed about it either- in fact, the threat of losing this beautiful world we live in makes you appreciate it even more. And the best things in life are not only free, they don’t contribute to global warming! “But we have to act now. Everyone has to be involved, and we need to be forgetting party politics, putting it on one side. This issue is rather bigger than that. We need a total re-think about the panacea of ‘economic growth’ which we have lived with for generations now, and need to be thinking a lot more on the R’s- reducing, re-using, repairing, in fact radically re-assessing how we live. We also need to work together to spread the word and encourage everyone to do whatever they can to reduce global warming.” There is a film on climate change and what we can do,
in Hull, at Hull Screen, George Street, 7.00pm on Oct 25-7; An
Inconvenient Truth - it is preceded each night by an expert speaker with
stalls outside for further information. For more information speak to Guy and Martin.
