We
are delighted to announce that Beverley Friends of the Earth (FOE)
group, which rose like a phoenix out of BIF, has now got its own website
lovingly built by our associate, Guy Moore :

Since
FOE has been set up BIF has become rather ‘virtual’ – focusing on
information dissemination rather than events organisation:
1.
FOE meetings deal with many of BIF issues (although in a more local
context)
2.
our organisational capacity is at full stretch convening and promoting
FOE meetings
3.
there are quite a lot of interesting events going on already which
need additional promotion (rather than more events).
For
example, last sunday night there was an excellent poetry/music gig
at the Memorial Hall –Attila the Stockbroker – which, tragically,
was attended by only 40 people. We only found out because Guy had
his ear to the ground. We will try to get Attila back to Beverley
in the future – possibly to the Green Fair on May 19th!
So,
our aim is to stimulate local debate by helping to keep as many people
as possible informed of what’s going on in the area. There is also
now a growing network of groups striving for sustainability such as
the long-standing Hull FOE, Green Party, Greenpeace, HOTI (Holderness
Opposing the Incinerator) etc.
