These are just conspiracy theories, aren't they?

No. There are certainly a range of beliefs by different investigators, some are better than others, and some may just be after headlines. The crucial thing is that there is a large number of aspects of the official story which do not match the evidence, despite the Commission, governmental and corporate media claims that all other explanations have been covered.

Why does the Green Party support investigating 9/11?

For 4 years the Green Party USA has been calling for a new independent investigation. The GPEW does not currently have a policy on this matter. in 2006 there was one vote for this which narrowly won a majority, however, being an Emergency Motion it required a 2/3 majority, and so it fell. In other words, a large number of Green Party members support the position that 9/11 has not been truly historically represented.

Don't you believe the official American government account?

Just look at the lies that led to war: lies about WMD, Hussein's capacity to attack, the 45 minute statement, and so on. With 9/11, people don't know that NEVER in building history have skyscrapers totally collapsed from fire; or that the 19 men being blamed are the wrong men in a number of cases; or that plane crashes leave thousands of serial numbered parts but these have not been brought forward. An independent enquiry would get closer to what actually happened.

Isn't this still really a conspiracy theory?

When most people are presented with anything questioning the official story of 9/11, an immediate reaction is to call it a conspiracy theory. The American government, the 9/11 Commission, the corporate media, both there and here, have all taken this line. People, too, adopt this line and join in dismissing others as fanciful or deluded. 

But there are real problems with just dismissing people who question the official story. History isn't - or shouldn't be - written just from the official point of view. That's pure George Orwell. If the official story is true the government has nothing to fear. But it is still facts and evidence that make for good history and not just believing any given government, especially one that really did conspire to get war on Iraq.

Why isn't the media making more of the 9/11 issue?

By way of analogy, the UK mainstream media has been slow to tell us about Peak Oil, for example. But for years the Green Party has had people leading the campaign on this to warn us of future shortages. Even now the real debate is not being had, as to how society will need to adjust. Similarly on climate change, the Greens have led the way so that now, for all its flaws, the UK is the only nation with a Climate Change Bill. On 9/11, the evidence from history is not going away so campaigners will continue to push for the media to face those questions honestly instead of ignoring or dismissing it.

Is it Green Party policy to question 9/11?

Questioning 9/11 isn't UK Party policy, however we remain a major political party aware of the issues and not shying away from them. Not on Iraq, not on Afghanistan, and not on 9/11. American Greens are calling for a new investigation. Greens in England and Wales have voted once on this but the motion narrowly fell. 

Hasn't the 9/11 Commission covered all this ground?

The 9/11 Commission claimed that it would lay all other theories to rest. Unfortunately for them, there remain huge amounts of information, evidence, testimony, that the Commission actually omits or distorts, or which did not even enter the discussion. Many people, most for the sake of justice to those who died, and what has been done in its name since, want the full facts on 9/11 to come out.
